People and Communities

The Automotive Aftermarket represents 3,26 million quality jobs in local communities across Europe. These include independent and authorised repairers, independent parts distributors diagnostics tool manufacturers, data publishers, remanufacturers, and technical service specialists – and many more. Together, they form a dense and decentralised service network that operates close to where vehicles are used: in cities, towns, rural areas, industrial zones, and logistics corridors.

The Automotive Aftermarket therefore contributes to Europe’s entrepreneurship and skills base in three ways. First, it creates a wide variety of employments in local economies. Second, it supports apprenticeships, vocational training, lifelong learning and reskilling, including for electric, connected and software-defined vehicles. Third, it preserves practical technical know-how that is essential to keeping Europe’s vehicle fleet safe, affordable and serviceable throughout its lifetime.
